Not so long ago, easy access to local medical services almost disappeared. Large professional hospital managers had given up on the area as a place to operate profitably. Vital health services were in jeopardy of going away, leaving local folks without nearby medical care.
But when they said no, one man said yes. Dr. Kenneth Williams, himself a son of rural Mississippi, keenly understood the hardship losing a hospital would cause. He knew how hard it would hit his patients if they had to travel many miles for urgent care. And he knew all too well the hole that losing a hospital would leave in the community.
Instead, Dr. Williams corralled his allies, gathered resources, bought the facility, and breathed new life into a community hospital that not long before had been on life support.
Today, that hospital is the flagship of a family of medical facilities and healthcare systems including the 40-bed Alliance Healthcare Hospital, Williams Medical Clinic, a network of satellite clinics, senior care, hospice and pharmacy services, a sleep study lab, and Alliance Healthcare Lab, a best-in-class medical laboratory testing facility serving medical providers nationwide.
